Mardi Gras, or “Fat Tuesday” in English, is the final day of celebration before the religious season of Lent. Because Lent is a time of sacrifice, Mardi Gras is a time of excess.

Fun Fact: Louisiana is the only state where Mardi Gras is a legal holiday. That doesn’t stop the rest of the world from joining in on the celebration!
